So yeah, even though his fiancee, best friend, and best friend's wife are all goons, he flat-out refuses to join, even though I know he'd like it here and probably be a pretty popular poster. I don't think I helped his image of SA, because while he was describing all the ways they were loving it up, I was laughing hysterically and just saying "Yeah, that sounds like them." Goon fuckery on online games has always been one of my favorite parts of this community. I guess they goonrushed the game as zombies and made it impossible to play the game normally. I only got the story very recently-apparently there was an online game called Urban Dead some time ago, and he was playing it and loving it.
I've asked him about coming back to SA, and though he lurks from time to time, he says he has no interest in coming back because of that whole debacle.įunny story, my best friend IRL loving hates goons. The short version of the story is that he was dating a goonnette I think, she was kind of crazy, and I forget what he did that set her off (I think he broke up with her or told her to gtfo or something like that because she'd been cheating on him I'd have to ask him for details), and she got pissed and claimed he was stalking her or something to the admins here, who accepted her story without question and permabanned him. I'm still friends with him and talk to him regularly, he's always been a great friend to me. I've seen some posters asking about Mayor Wilkins. One of my favorite posts in forum history was an old, old "Post your address" mail-exchange type thing. (although honestly these days that seems like small potatoes compared to the poo poo 4chan/anonymous/redditors have pulled) THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS GUYS Thousands upon thousands of folders and files of random pictures, furry porn, and god knows what else were added and deleted and added and deleted.Īfter about a half hour to an hour or so of this, Lowtax comes back into the thread, posts "I had no idea you guys would go on a derby of destruction over there," and moments later, deletes the thread. Hundreds, possibly over a thousand goons were all piled on. In no time at all, the website was deleted entirely and the space it was on was turned into an open FTP.

Soon after, I remember someone posting "oh poo poo oh poo poo no way is he using the same password for the server and remote desktop" Then someone found out that the admin password was also his email's password. It was impossible to do anything on the forum what with it being down 9 tries out of 10, and on the rare instance you were able to do anything, there were at least a few hundred goons all posting/editing threads and loving with the forum controls simultaneously. Then someone found the admin password to this guy's forums. Over the next few hours, I refreshed the thread and watched as the goons started out doing their usual thing-flooding the forums, sending emails, generally loving around and nearly taking down the site from all the traffic and goatse. Lowtax, as had been standard for cases like these, cried havoc and let slip the goons of war.Īnd I'm assuming he walked away from his computer because holy poo poo. Some time in late 2003, early 2004 thereabouts (I only remember this because I was still at Pope AFB at the time), Lowtax found a website that had stolen several pages' worth of layout and content from the Cliff Yablonsky site and added his own, terrible unfunny captions. I've posted a few times about this in the past. When's the last time we had a Lowtax-sanctioned forum invasion? Those were always good for some laffs. I lurked for a good bit of time after that. I was thinking "oh man this is hilarious the goons will love this!" First post, like two minutes after I posted the thread, was Lowtax, saying "I'm closing this thread and banning you for your own protection." I got banned my first day for posting the AYB flash (which apparently came from here) because I was relatively new to the internet and wasn't aware how played-out it was.

When I finally followed a link here, it was to one of the early Photoshop Phridays, and I was sucked right in.
I actively avoided SA for a while, because wires got crossed in my brain and I thought SA was.
